Plant-Based Recipes

Plant-Based Recipes

Are you looking for plant-based family meals? You’ve come to the right place! I create plant-based recipes that won’t break your budget. All recipes are oil-free and many are also gluten-free.

When we first adopted a plant-based diet over a decade ago, vegan recipes were easy enough to find, bit whole food, plant-based, oil-free recipes were not. I started creating plant-based recipes for families so I could feed my family! So whether you are looking for plant-based dinner ideas for your family or quick and easy breakfasts, or tips for being successful, I’m glad you are here.

If you find a recipe you want to try but have an allergy or intolerance to an ingredient, you may find substitution recommendations in the “story” before the recipe. I try to make that information has helpful has possible. Often recipes can be easily adapted by changing around an ingredient here or there. I hope you find exactly what you are looking for!

Mexican Rice and Bean Casserole

What do you eat on a plant-based diet?

There is so much variety on a plant-based diet. If you are new to plant-based eating, focus on eating:

  • Beans
  • Grains
  • Veggies
  • Fruit
  • Seeds and Nuts

There are foods you should avoid too:

  • highly processed packed foods
  • meat
  • dairy
  • foods with added oil

We eat all kinds of foods. Our favorites vary by season but we always enjoy Plant-Based Soups, beans and rice, especially Mexican Rice and Oil-Free Refried Beans. Yes, you can have tacos on a plant-based diet.

We also eat hearty salads like my Quinoa Lentil Salad.

Oil-Free Hummus

Don’t forget about hummus! It’s practically the official food of the plant-based diet. We enjoy hummus and eat it with fresh veggies, on sandwiches, wraps and anything else you can think of. Our favorite hummus recipes are:

  • Classic Oil-Free Hummus
  • Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus
  • Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

If you don’t know how to make beans I highly recommend this post that will walk you through it. Using dried beans and cooking them yourself is a great way to save money while eating plant-based.
